Betty Jo (Berkenmeyer) Wenning, 74, of Depauw, Indiana passed from this life on May 23, 2026 at her home. Betty Jo was born on July 26, 1951 in Ramsey, Indiana to the late Carl E. and Mildred (Dear) Berkenmeyer. She was united in marriage to James M. “Jimmy” Wenning on July 18, 1970.
Betty Jo was a homemaker and was a member of the former Hancock Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, watching Westerns, going to yard sales with her daughter, watching hummingbirds, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Betty Jo was preceded in death by her parents; sons, James L. and Jason J. Wenning; brothers, Charlie, Carl “Jr.”, Bob, Melvin, Kenneth, Lawrence “Butch”, and Jim Berkenmeyer.
She is survived by her husband, James M. “Jimmy” Wenning; daughter, Crystal D. Schilmiller (Nick), grandchildren, Dylan, Destiny, and Jayla Wenning, and Caleb Schilmiller; and a sister, Shirley Knasel.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 306 Spring Street, Milltown, Indiana 47145.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at 11:00 a.m., all at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in the Hancock Chapel Cemetery.
Bro. Lary Cropper will officiate the service.
