Charles E. Hammond, 90, of Marengo, Indiana died on September 6, 2024 at Todd-Dickey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Leavenworth, Indiana. Charles was born on November 13, 1933 in Clarksville, Indiana to the late Michael P. and Geneva (Dicus) Hammond.
Charles was a former truck driver for several different companies, during his career. He was a member of the English Fire Department, English VFW Post #6160, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a step-grandchild, Deeann Rogier and a step-great-grandchild, Curtis Rogier; and siblings: John D., Michael Jerome, James William “Bill”, Leroy, and Linda Hammond.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Lutz (Alan); brother, Ray Hammond; sisters, Melba Norman and Delores Nourse; a grandchild, Stephanie Berk (Chris); great-grandchild, Brandon Ingle; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren: Dana Wright, Dawn Satterfield, and Dyane Webster; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. EDT at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4027 E. Goodman Ridge Road, Marengo, Indiana 47140. Interment will follow in the Taswell Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 4-8 pm EDT and on Monday, September 9, 2024 after 9:00 am until time of the service at 1:00 pm EDT, all at the church.
Bro. Greg Sissell will officiate the service.
