Lloyd B. Roberts, Sr., 87, died Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Cedar Court in Corydon, Indiana. He was born on March 7, 1935 to George and Anna Mae Roberts in Central, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Roberts and two grandsons, Brian Kumm and Jackson Proctor.
He leaves behind his wife, Norma Roberts and his children, Mary (Ernie) Kumm, Laura (Pat) Moss, Britton (Kathy) Roberts, Paul (Elizabeth) Roberts, and Jennifer (John) Proctor, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
After graduating high school in Texas, Lloyd served three years in the Army stationed in South Korea. He later received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville and taught at public schools in Louisville and in Southern Indiana. Continuing his education, Lloyd was granted his Doctorate of Theology from Southern Baptist Seminary and served as minister, at the Milltown Baptist Church for several years.
After his retirement from the ministry, he worked as an assistant manager at the English and Corydon Jay-C Food Stores, where he made countless friends. In addition he also worked for Habitat for Humanity and volunteered ministerial services at Harrison Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Corydon.
A memorial service will be held at Brown-Newkirk Funeral Home in Milltown, Indiana on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.
Bro. Bruce Hawkins will officiate the service.
