Frances H. (Ross) Jones

Frances H. (Ross) Jones, 94, of Marengo, Indiana passed to her reward on September 17, 2024.  Frances was born on April 6, 1930 in Marengo to the late John and May (McIntosh) Ross.

Frances was a dairy farmer’s wife who enjoyed many hobbies in life.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, cross stitch master, reading, cross word puzzles, working on genealogies, cooking, traveling and was no stranger to using the computer which she learned to use late in life.  She was the Valedictorian of her class in 1948, from Marengo High School, and was also a member of the DAR.  She held many jobs in life starting with working at Derrs, Taylors Department Store in Marengo and Sears Store in New Albany, Indiana.  She played piano and organ, also helping in many church activities over the years.  She was a member of the English Wesleyan Church and the International Conservative Holiness Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Meredith Jones and son in law Mark Eckart; brothers Bob Ross and Clarence Ross, and sister Sylvia House.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Jones (Kathy) of Chesapeake, Virginia; Bruce Jones (Bonnie) of Bedford, Indiana; and Glenn Jones (Sue) of Marengo, Indiana and daughter Deborah Eckart of Orleans, Indiana; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11:00 am at the English Wesleyan Church, 312 S. Main Street, English, Indiana 47118.  Interment will follow in the Marengo Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 4-8 at the Brown Funeral Home, 306 Spring Street, Milltown, Indiana and after 9:00 am until time of the service at 11:00 am, at the church.

Rev. Bob England and Rev. Roger Dillman will officiate the funeral service.
