James E. (Whity) Culbertson, 81, of English, Indiana died on August 13, 2021 at Baptist Health- Floyd. James was born on July 2, 1940 in Estherville, Iowa to the late Orlando Clarence and Ruth (Herbrandson) Culbertson.
He was a former lead shipping foreman for Pillsbury, a former EMT for Crawford County Ambulance, a farmer, a preacher, and a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of the Tower Full Gospel Church, where he served as treasurer, song leader, Sunday School Superintendent, and deacon. He was a gideon for Gideons International, a member of Indiana Farm Bureau Board in English, Indiana, a former board member of Oblisk Credit Union, now known as Centra. He was also a board member of the Shady Springs Church Camp.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: George and Paul Culbertson; sisters: Orpha Timberlake, Neomi Culbertson, and Vera Wallbrown.
He is survived by his wife: Edith M. (Lloyd) Culbertson; a son, James DeWayne Culbertson (April) of Greenwood, Indiana; daughters: Michelle R. Fitch of Grantsburg, Indiana and Deborah D. Woods (Anthony) of Thayer, Missouri; brothers: John Culbertson (Annette) of Ramsey, Indiana, Phillip Culbertson ( Vicki) of Evansville, Indiana, and Russell Culbertson (Pat) of Florida; sisters: Ruby Atkins of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren: Samuel Culbertson, Katrina Begay (Jordan), Kyle Fitch (Lauren) Rachel Fitch, Hunter Woods (Brittany), and Emily Woods; and great-grandchildren: Willow, Easton, Gracelynn, and Caroline.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tower Full Gospel Church, 5602 S. State Road 66, English, Indiana 47118. Interment will follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery near Grantsburg, Indiana.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 4-8 pm and after 10:00 am until time of the service at 11:00 am on Tuesday, all at the church.
Bro. Anthony Woods will officiate the service.
