Jay Ronald Ferguson, 86, of Milltown, died Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Ind. He was born January 25, 1937, in Milltown to Jay Fred Ferguson and Jessie Fern Ferguson.
He was a husband and father to three sons and was a member of Milltown Christian Church. He coached basketball for 22 years; served as athletic director at Milltown for 19 years and another 18 years at Crawford County High School. He was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007. He was also the former owner of Ferguson & Associates Inc., bookkeeping and tax services, taught accounting and drivers education during his time at Crawford County High School, and was a member of Milltown Masonic Lodge #661.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Verna Lee Ferguson; and his son, Douglas Edward Ferguson.
Survivors include his sons, Jay Myron Ferguson (Donna) and Kevin Joseph Ferguson (Kristy); daughter-in-law, Tammy Ferguson; sister-in-law Gloria Jean Booth; niece Kirsten Culpepper; his 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Milltown Christian Church. Private burial immediately following in Milltown Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Milltown Christian Church.
Pastor Dee Sweeney and Bro. Jim Smith will officiate the service.
