Jerry M. “Monty” Garrett, 79, of Milltown, Indiana died on May 19, 2023 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. Monty was born on March 12, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Drurie Brown Garrett Sr. and Isabel (England) Garrett.
Monty was a former owner of Kentucky Tree Service, former laborer for International Harvester, former truck driver, served the Town of Milltown, Indiana as town manager and then later as a member of the town council, owner of Garrett Excavating, and was a former Scout Master.
Monty was a retired Captain for the U.S. National Guard. He was a member of the Milltown American Legion Post #332, Crawford County Republican Party, and the International Society of Arboriculture.
Monty was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Lisa Singleton and Michele Garrett; a brother, Bluford Howard Garrett; sisters,Virginia Marie Crabtree, Geraldine Garrett Titus, Mary Marcella Pollard.
He is survived by his wife, Mary A. (Hagan) Garrett of Milltown, Indiana; son, Michael R. Garrett of New Albany, Indiana; brothers, Drurie Brown Garrett Jr. of Dawson Springs, Kentucky, George Arthur Garrett of Louisville, Kentucky, and James Joseph Garrett of Crestwood, Kentucky; sister, Betty Horton of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Danielle Manship and Dustin Garrett; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00 am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 341 S. State Road 66, Marengo, Indiana 47140. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 4-8 pm and on Saturday, May 27, 2023 after 9:00 am until 10:00 am, all at the Brown Funeral Home, 306 Spring Street, Milltown, Indiana 47145.
Father Aaron Pfaff will officiate the service.
