Joe D. “Joseph” Powell, 68, of Jeffersonville, Indiana died on April 7, 2024 at the home of his sister, Traci F. Frazier-Elliott. Joe was born on August 3, 1955 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Joseph Powell and Jean R. (Watson) Frazier.
Joe was a former welder for Jeff Boat and was a musician and an avid guitar player. At the age of 9, he played on the Grand Ole Opry and at the age of 15, played on the Jerry Lewis Telethon.
He was a member of Jesus Cares at Exit 0 Ministries at the West Maple Baptist Church.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carmell Frazier; and sisters, Rhonda Powell, Joanne Long, and Tammy Powell.
He is survived by his brothers, Mark Powell (Donna) and Jerry Howell; and sisters, Donna Harvey and Traci Frazier-Elliott (Todd).
Funeral services will be Friday, April 12, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the West Maple Street Baptist Church, 403 W. Maple Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until time of the service at 7:00 p.m., at the church.
Pastor Ned Smith will officiate the service.
