Marita J. (Colber) Harkness

Marita J. (Colber) Harkness, 70, of Marengo, Indiana passed from this life on April 2, 2026 at Baptist Health- Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana.  Marita was born on August 22, 1955 in Paoli, Indiana to the late Henry Curtis and Mary Lou (Stroud) Colber.

Marita was a homemaker and a member of the Little Mission Church.  She enjoyed riding horses when she younger and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Shannon R. Sheckells (Kevin) of Marengo, Indiana; grandchildren, Dylan (Heather) of New Salisbury, Indiana, Dalton Sheckells (Chelsea) of Milltown, Indiana, and Donavan Sheckells of Marengo; and great-grandchildren, Bryndle, Silas, and Adalyn Sheckells; brothers, Gary E. Colber (Kathy) of Paoli, Indiana; sisters, Violet Burton and Helen Harris both of Marengo, Indiana.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Mission Church, 5575 S. County Road 640 E., Hardinsburg, Indiana  47125.  Interment will follow in the Mathers Chapel Cemetery near English, Indiana.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 4-8 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, all at the church.

Bro. George Key will officiate the service.
