Maxine A. Smith

Maxine A. Smith, 91, of English, Indiana died on April 28, 2023 at Harrison Healthcare in Corydon, Indiana.  Maxine was born on August 22, 1931 in English, Indiana to the late William Glenn Smith and Ferne I. (Sloan) Benham.

She was former owner of Maxines Cleaners and Shoe Repair and former Clerk-Treasurer for the Town of English.  She was a member of the Hillview Christian Church and English Civics Club.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and brothers:  William (Bill) and Terry Smith, and Duane Benham.

Maxine is survived by her companion, Lois Stephenson; sister, Susan Brown and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Hillview Christian Church, 4180 State Road 64, Marengo, Indiana  47140.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 4-8 pm and on Wednesday, after 10:00 am until time of the service at 1:00 pm, all at Hillview Christian Church.

Cortni Crews, like the daughter, Mackie never had, will officiate the service.
