Mildred J. Sloan, 96, of Marengo, Indiana peacefully passed away May 4, 2024. She was born on May 27, 1927 to Claude and Lula (Stroud) Trinkle of Marengo. Mildred was co-owner of Sloan’s Texaco on Hwy. 64 in Marengo. She was a seamstress, a member of the Marengo Garden Club, Three Arts Club, Lost River DAR, LaBelle Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #419, and a member of Marengo Independent Methodist Church, where she was very active for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, Edward L. (Hogie) Sloan; and her brother, Archie L. Trinkle of Bloomington.
She is survived by her 3 daughters: Lana (John) Ransdell of Milltown, Rochelle (Danny) Richardson and Regina Sloan both of Marengo; grandchildren: Alyssa (Joey) Speece of Ramsey, and Derek (Stephanie) Ransdell of Evansville; step-grandson Kyle (Megan) Richardson of Marengo; great-grandchildren: Brock and Rowan Speece of Ramsey; step great-grandchildren: Levi, Zoe, and Bryce Richardson of Marengo; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Brown Funeral Home, 306 Spring Street, Milltown, Indiana 47145. Interment will follow in the Marengo Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, after 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 1:00 p.m., all at the funeral home.
Pastor Deb Reichenbach will officiate the service.
