Norma Roberts Obituary

Norma Lee Roberts, 87, of Corydon, Indiana died on March 3, 2023 at Todd-Dickey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Leavenworth, Indiana.  She was born on June 28, 1935 to the late Emmett E. and Mary Jane (Neafus) Carlisle in Louisville, Kentucky where she lived, was educated, and attended the Walnut Street Baptist Church.

There she met her future husband, Lloyd B. Roberts, Sr., an Army soldier stationed at Fort Knox, who happened to be at the church playing the piano.  They had six children together and were happily married for sixty-seven years.

Lloyd preceded Norma in death, as did a daughter, Karen Roberts, and two grandsons, Brian Kumm and Jackson Proctor.

She is survived by her children, Mary Kumm and her husband, Ernie; Laura Moss and her husband, Pat; Britton Roberts and his wife, Kathy; Paul Roberts and his wife Elizabeth, and Jennifer Proctor and her husband John; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A pastor’s wife and mother of six, Norma will be remembered as a pleasant, friendly soul, quick with a laugh and a smile.  She is probably most remembered by the hundreds of students from Corydon Elementary School, where she worked for over a decade as the “lunch lady.”  Continuing to serve others, she later in life delivered food for Meals of Wheels in Milltown, Indiana.

Services will be private and interment will follow in the Milltown Baptist Cemetery.
