Tana Jean Curl, 68, of Milltown, Indiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family & friends on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Norton Clark Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Born Tana Jean Dunn in Cannelton, Indiana on October 24, 1956 to John Allen and Lucinda Ellen Francis Corder Dunn. As a child, growing up along the river in Kentucky, her and her siblings loved to watch the steamboats floating up and down the river. When she was 16, she married Charles, whom she loved greatly. They were married for 35 years before his untimely death.
Throughout the years, Tana worked as a cook at several different establishments. She loved cooking for other people, whether that meant having them over for a meal or making them a pie. She retired from East Crawford Elementary School, where she worked as a cook for many years. She enjoyed cross stitching, watching Turner Classic Movies and Animal Planet. She loved owning different animals throughout the years. She had everything from dogs, cats and birds to peacocks, goats, sheep, chickens, pigs and more. Pigs were her favorite. Her and Charles took their children on many vacations when they were young, and she was able to travel some in later years as well. Among her favorite places to visit were Alaska and Gulf Shores, Alabama, where she often vacationed with her niece, Roxanna. She loved whale watching while in Alaska and collecting seashells and watching the sunrise in Gulf Shores. She said she would have loved living on the beach. Most important to her was her faith in Jehovah. She was a member of the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Corydon, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband, Charles Ray Curl. Also preceding her were 3 siblings: A brother, Steve Allen Dunn, and two sisters: Barbara Ann Fuqua and Lola Dawn Dunn. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray Curl and Mary Magdaline Curl also precede her in death. As well as her brothers-in-law, Keith Curl, Charles Farris and Pete Fuqua and her sisters-in-law, Melanie Dunn and Sammye Dunn.
Survivors include Tana's three children, Jeremy Curl (Rebecca) of Clear Water, Florida, Jason Curl (Crystal) of Milltown, Indiana and Jayla Curl of Corydon, Indiana. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Dakota Curl, Devan Curl, Marriah Curl, Kaelab Curl, Sabryna Curl, Karleigh Curl, Jacsyn Curl, Maycie Curl and Mawlea Curl. She is also survived by siblings: Catherine Mae Johnston, Willis Nelson Dunn (Patty), Larry Wayne Dunn, Rita Simone Farris, Edna Jane Hurt, John Presley Dunn and Angela Kay Dunn.
