Tara S. Jones, 75, of Marengo, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 15, 1950, in New Albany, Indiana, to Dale and Evelyn (White) Sloan. Tara worked for S & T Industries in Louisville, Kentucky, and was a devoted member of Marengo Independent Methodist Church. Above all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.
Tara is survived by her husband, Anthony E. “Tony” Jones; her children, Craig Jones (Jenny) of Leavenworth, Indiana, Todd Jones (Jackie) of Bargersville, Indiana, Toni Lynn Jones (Heather) of Grantsburg, Indiana, and Marcy Curl (Bryan) of English, Indiana; her mother, Evelyn Sloan of Marengo, her brother, Gil Sloan (Michelle) of Leavenworth, Indiana, and her sister, Robin Asher (Tracy) of New Salisbury, Indiana. She is lovingly remembered by five grandchildren, Lakeisha Brown (Dakota), Trey Jones (Autumn), Jacob Jones (Bethany), Mariam Jones and Broderick Jones. Tara also leaves her four great-grandchildren to cherish her memory, Sophia, Tucker, Naomi and the future baby boy Jones that is on the way.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Sloan; her son, Monty Dewayne Jones; and her brother, Danny Sloan.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Marengo Independent Methodist Church (1449 N. Hardy Road, Marengo, IN 47140), with burial to follow at Marengo Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church, and will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers a donation could be made to the Marengo independent Methodist Church or to Rick’s Hope in Tara’s memory.
