Timothy J. (Tim) Tolbert, passed from this life to receive his Heavenly reward on January 16, 2025 at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour, Indiana. Tim was born on June 29, 1951 in Paoli, Indiana to the late Cecil and Hazel (Case) Tolbert.
Tim, at an early age, began his career as a Radio DJ for WVAK (Paoli), and then moving on to WSLM (Salem), WITZ (Jasper), WUME (Paoli), Q100 (French Lick), and volunteered at WBRO (Marengo). Tim was an avid music collector of several different genres, such as the Oldies, Classic Country, and Gospel. To name just a few of his favorite artists, they would include Elvis, Reba, Ivan Parker, and the Isaacs. He was a member of the Hillview Christian Church near Marengo, Indiana.
Tim enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri and attending record conventions. He loved playing music and promoting concerts. He began doing benefit music concerts for his son, Travis, during his illness. He continued the benefits, after the loss of his son, using this ministry for bringing people to Christ, through the Gospel concerts. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He remained strong in his faith and love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy “Travis” Tolbert; brothers, Larry Rex Tolbert and Phillip Tolbert (Rita); nephew, Patrick Tolbert; brother-in-law, Novy Newkirk; and sister-in-law, Rita Bowles.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Evelyn (Newkirk) Tolbert of Taswell, Indiana; son, Tyler Tolbert (Megan) of Seymour, Indiana; daughters, Kristi Rawlins and Dwana Tolbert-Dye (Patrick) all of Cynthiana, Kentucky; brother, Bill Tolbert of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; and grandchildren, Jason Dye, Jonathan Knapp, Evelyn and Theodore Tolbert.
