Wallace Edward Deshane, 78, of Marengo, Indiana passed from this life on November 14, 2025 at his residence. Wallace was born on September 28, 1947 in Old Town, Maine to the late Raymond Louis and Mary Jane (Robichaud) Deshane.
He was a former owner/operator truck driver and a United States Marine Corp. Veteran, having served during Vietnam. He was a member of the Marengo American Legion Post #84, where he formerly served as finance clerk and the honor guard for military rites for funerals. He had a love for guns and ammunition and was a proud member of the NRA. He enjoyed being a mechanic and carpenter and loved to cook. He loved people and helping others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, JoAnn Deshane; sisters, Geneva Bolgett and Donna V. Corson; and brothers, Raymond and Richard Deshane.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Peggy Bays; sons, Lyn D. Melton of Mitchell, Indiana, Glen B. Melton (Brenda) of French Lick, Indiana, Jesse J. Melton (Amy) of Charleston, South Carolina, Steven T. Duncan of Marengo, Indiana, and Scott W. Duncan (Casey) of Jasper, Indiana; daughters, Lorna K. Shelton (Kenny) of Grantsburg, Indiana, Patty A. Patton of Marengo, Indiana, Audrey J. Pevlor (Jim) of Santa Claus, Indiana, and Billie Jo Oregon of Farmington, Kentucky; brothers, Robert, Roger, Rodney, Michael, and Joseph Deshane; sisters, Diana L. Savoy and Susan E. Martinez; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be on Friday, November 28, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 306 Spring Street, Milltown, Indiana 47145.
Friends may call on Friday, November 28, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will follow in the Marengo Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Marengo American Legion Post #84.
